Nutrition with Maria
My love for nutrition and sports started at an early age. I studied Food Technology and PDHPE in high school and I was amazed at how our bodies work. Food affects EVERYTHING, and they are right when they say “we are what we eat”.
My love for boxing began over 5 years ago and that’s when I started noticing the benefits of healthy eating and keeping active. If I ate healthy and nutritious foods I was able to perform better, but when I ate ‘sometimes’ foods a bit more than sometimes, I couldn’t train as well. Boxing is such a complex sport with so much skill and technique involved, and it has become a never ending goal of mine to improve my own technique each and every training session.
I strongly believe in the motto “everything in moderation”. Food is DELICIOUS, and there are so many yummy foods that we shouldn’t deny ourselves. My favourite foods are pasta and creme brûlée. You will never catch me saying no to either of these!
Currently I am in my 3rd year of studying a Bachelor of Health Science degree. When I finish I hope to work with female athletes, to help them enhance their performance because it’s amazing what our bodies are capable of with the right knowledge and nutrition in place.
