Confessions of a Conic coach

Hi guys, my name is Chelsea, and well, welcome to our first Conic blog post.

In addition to being a coach, I am also Conic’s journalist; so, it will be here that you find weekly blogs on all things Conic, exciting sporting news, and inspiring interviews.

Conic’s vision stems from the belief that it is important to encourage, support and nurture the love of sport in all girls. Hence, our goal is to create a community of strong-willed females who dream big, but more importantly, who chase those dreams with a courageous, resilient heart.

Our clinics are both exciting and unique. They’re run at schools during specific terms and are also held during school holiday periods. We provide coaching for a variety of sports including soccer, footy, AFL, Oztag and Touch football, all of which focus on both skill development and enjoyment.

Conic’s clinics also encompass interactive wellbeing modules on topics pivotal for young girls, such as Nutrition, Social media awareness, Anti-bullying, Growth mindset etc. By integrating these programs into our skill sessions, we aim to enlighten the girls about things such as a positivity, the gravity of kindness, cyber-safety, fueling your body and beauty from within; hoping that ALL girls leave with a smile on their face.

Our Conic coaches are a bunch of inspiring individuals, passionate about supporting the love of sport in girls. Through their own personal experiences and expertise, they strive to encourage a future generation of strong, humble women who empower each other.

A few of our coaches have shared what they love about being part of the Conic team and what motivates them to be a positive inspiration.

I absolutely love being a part of this team. For me, being a Mum to 3 girls (plus Marley moo), I find that empowering girls is so important. I love encouraging girls to uplift each other instead of competing against each other. I think with so much negativity surrounding social media these days it’s more important than ever to keep young girls in sport no matter what their abilities. That is why I focus on helping the girls set goals to become the best versions of themselves as opposed to winning and losing. I’m still learning along the way; these girls teach me a lot as well and I love that.”

“I love working for Conic because they are a driving force in what the younger females of the next generation can be! In a world dominated by what is perceived to be “male” sports, it’s great to see the younger girls getting out and passing a footy or even putting on those boxing gloves.  It’s tough to be a girl, and it’s even tougher to be a girl in the teenage years. I hope that I can help the girls develop an understanding on the importance of good nutrition and also help them build a positive relationship with food.”
